MANILA, Philippines — Beginning today, the Manila city government will close its drive-through vaccination site at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park.

In an advisory, the city public information office announced the last day of operation of the vaccination facility yesterday.

“The 24/7 drive-through vaccination site at the Quirino Grandstand will only be open until 5 p.m. on June 6,” the advisory read.

Residents and non-Manila residents may still get COVID vaccines in the city’s 44 health centers, six district hospitals and four malls.

While the city government did not cite the reason for shutting down the vaccination site for people in vehicles, the site has recorded fewer visits since it opened in July last year, according to radio reports.

Manila has administered around 3.46 million vaccine doses since the inoculation rollout in March last year.

The city government has exceeded its target population of over one million residents inoculated against the virus.

Manila had 25 active cases of COVID-19, with three new infections, as of yesterday.
