2 held for P5.1 million shabu in toy drum set

MANILA, Philippines — Two men were arrested at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay after they claimed a parcel containing illegal drugs hidden in a toy drum set.

The toy drum set – sent by Juan Miguel Jacobo from Mexico – held 750 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P5.1 million and some candies, according to the Bureau of Customs. The parcel arrived at the CMEC on May 30.

The consignee, Bryan Vincent Pagailon, 42, and his companion, Ferdinand Jimenez, 65, were arrested when they claimed the parcel at around 6 p.m.

The two are being held on charges of violating Republic Act 916 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

In Quezon City, Rogelio Sus, 47; Rommel Bustamante, 50; and Benjielito Comedor, 53, were arrested in a drug bust in Barangay Baesa on Thursday afternoon. Police confiscated around 15 grams of shabu with a street value of P102,000 from them. – Emmanuel Tupas, Robertzon Ramirez
