Man stabs to death son, 6

MANILA, Philippines — A man allegedly stabbed to death his six-year-old son then tried to kill himself in Numancia, Aklan on Wednesday.

M/Sgt. Felizardo Navarra Jr., Numancia police investigator, said the suspect reportedly stabbed his son in the bedroom of his parents’ house after he picked him up from the residence of his in-laws.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo, where the suspect was also brought for treatment of the stab wounds he reportedly inflicted on himself.

The suspect was said to have suffered from depression after his policewoman wife separated from him last year.

In Pangasinan, Dominic Cayabyab reportedly hanged himself at his workplace in Barangay Manambong Sur in Bayambang.

Cayabyab’s family members and co-workers said he had been depressed since his girlfriend broke up with him. – Eva Visperas
