2 kids drown in irrigation canal

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Two children drowned in an irrigation canal in Tabuk, Kalinga on Friday.

Jessa Mae Palactao, 9, and David Palactao, 12, both residents of Barangay Bulanao, were playing near the irrigation canal when they fell into the deep portion of the water, the Kalinga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said.

The two were declared dead on arrival at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

In April last year, 13 people, most of them children, died when a sport utility vehicle fell into an irrigation canal in Barangay Bulo, also in Tabuk.
