Manila’s active COVID-19 cases below 100 for 3 weeks

MANILA, Philippines —  The number of active COVID-19 cases in Manila has remained below 100 for the past three weeks, according to the city government.

As of Dec. 24, there were 78 active cases in Manila.

Tondo 1 has the most number of active cases with 13, followed by San Andres with 10; Pandacan and Sampaloc, eight each; Sta. Ana and Sta. Cruz, seven each; Port Area and Sta. Mesa, six each; Malate, five; Paco, four, and Ermita and Tondo 2 with two each.

There were no active cases in the districts of Binondo, Intramuros, Quiapo, San Miguel and San Nicolas.

The city government said the below-100 number of COVID cases has been sustained for the past 19 days.

Manila has recorded 92,268 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 1,762 deaths and 90,428 recoveries.

Four new deaths were added to the tally as of Dec. 24, the city government said.

Meanwhile, the city government of Malabon suspended its COVID-19 vaccination program for the holidays.

In an advisory, the city government said there would be no vaccination today, on Dec. 30 and 31 and on Jan. 1 and 2 next year.

Vaccination will resume from Dec. 27 to 29 and starting Jan. 3, 2022, it added.

The city government also advised city residents to await its schedule and list of vaccination sites.

As of Dec. 23, the city government recorded 21,310 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 20,647 recoveries, 653 deaths and 10 active cases coming from Barangays Catmon, Dampalit, Hulong Duhat, Panghulo, Tañong and Tugatog.
