14 held for illegal fishing in Bataan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A boat captain and 13 crewmembers of a commercial fishing vessel have been arrested for illegal fishing in the waters off Mariveles, Bataan.

Police said the suspects were caught fishing around three kilometers from the shore in Barangay Alas-Asin.

Thirty-five kilos of assorted fish, 50 fish tubs, a 200-meter long net, boat engine and a fishing boat were seized from the suspects.

The suspects were brought to the Bataan maritime police station for the filing of charges.
