MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is extending its no disconnection policy in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Lucena City in Quezon, which remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until Oct. 15.

Malacañang announced on Thursday night that the government’s pandemic task force retained the MECQ classification of the five areas starting yesterday until Oct. 15.

Meralco said disconnection activities would continue in Metro Manila, which was placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) and Alert Level 4, except in areas that will be placed under granular lockdown by local government units.

The no disconnection policy will be lifted in Batangas and Quezon, which are under GCQ with heightened restrictions.

Meralco urged its customers to contact the company through its website, social media accounts and hotline to discuss and clarify their concerns, including payment terms, if necessary.

“Meralco remains to be very considerate during this period and vowed to assist customers with their concerns,” it said.

“Meralco will continue vital operations such as meter reading, bill delivery and service crews will continue to work around the clock to serve its customers,” the company said.
