MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has placed more areas under special concern lockdown due to the rising cases of COVID-19.

Seventeen areas were locked down since the start of the enhanced community quarantine on Friday, bringing the total to 40.

These include parts of Ilocos Sur street, Barangay Alicia; Ramirez street, Barangay Novaliches Proper; Gumamela street, Barangay Payatas; Aquino street, Barangay Tandang Sora; J. Kanlaon street, Barangay Sta. Teresita; Sinforosa street, Barangay Bagbag; Road 14, Barangay Bahay Toro; P. Valenzuela street, Barangay UP Campus; Payapa corner Mangga streets, Barangay Culiat; Bukaneg street, Barangay Sta. Lucia, and Lanao and Cotabato streets in Barangay Culiat.

Parts of Ramos street, Barangay Talipapa; St. John Compound, Barangay Pasong Tamo; Miller Compound, Barangay San Bartolome; Pawoi street, Barangay Doña Imelda; Interior Deropa street, Barangay Bahay Toro, and Abra St., Barangay Ramon Magsaysay were also locked down.

The city government clarified that only specific areas and not the entire barangays are covered by the lockdown.

Food packs and essential kits will be provided to those affected by the lockdown as residents will not be allowed to leave their homes.

They will also undergo swab tests, with those testing positive for COVID-19 transferred to the city’s isolation facilities.
