2 carjackers slain, cop wounded in shootout

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two suspected carjackers were killed while a police officer was wounded in a shootout in Calauan, Laguna on Tuesday night.

The fatalities, who have yet to be identified, were declared dead on arrival at the San Pablo City Medical Center.

S/Sgt. Diosdado Casupang Jr. was hit in his ankle and is now in stable condition in a hospital.

Police said the slain suspects were accused of stealing a motorcycle and a cell phone from Crisanto delos Santos in Barangay Lamot 2.

The suspects allegedly opened fire when cornered by responding police officers in Barangay Balayhangin.
