MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated yesterday an estimated P9 million worth of the party drug Ecstasy at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Some 5,205 Ecstasy tablets were concealed in a paper shredder in a warehouse at the airport, according to BOC-NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan.

Talusan said the contraband was shipped from the United Kingdom and consigned to a Pasig City resident.

She said Customs personnel discovered the drugs while conducting physical examination of the package.

The drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and unlawful importation will be filed against the consignee, the BOC said.
