Fire hits Galas public market; 1 hurt

MANILA, Philippines — At least 150 stalls were destroyed when a fire razed the Galas public market in Barangay San Isidro, Quezon City yesterday morning.

A tenant, 54-year-old Reynaldo Rondina, was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of second degree burns.

City fire marshal Col. Jaime Ramirez said an estimated P250,000 worth of property was damaged by the blaze.

Ramirez said the fire broke out at around 4:10 a.m. and reached the fourth alarm.

Firefighters contained the blaze at around 6:31 a.m.

Arson investigators said they have yet to determine what caused the fire.
