Bong Go launches Malasakit Centers in Eastern Samar, Leyte

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go joined government officials during the launch of the 36th and 37th Malasakit Centers in Borongan, Eastern Samar, and Ormoc, Leyte on Friday.

Like the launch in Siquijor, Presidential Adviser for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino led the opening of the newest Malasakit Centers.

The centers are located at the provincial hospitals of Eastern Samar and Ormoc.

“The Malasakit Center is a ‘one-stop shop’ that aims to hasten provision of government assistance for the poor. The agencies involved are the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philhealth and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office,” Go said.

He said one of the primary goals of the Duterte administration is to make quality healthcare accessible to all Filipinos.

Since the initiative began in 2018, 37 Malasakit Centers have been established and are now fully functional to serve the needs of the Filipinos nationwide.

“The welfare of the Filipinos in need is always a priority. Among them are the sick and those living in remote areas. This is the service that I promised to give you, something that will be felt and benefit everyone anywhere in the country,” Go said.

As part of his legislative agenda to help the Duterte administration achieve positive and genuine change, Go’s first bill seeks to institutionalize the establishment of Malasakit Centers in more provinces and urban areas to make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible to all Filipinos.
