2 drug suspects slain
MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected drug traffickers were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Calamba, Laguna over the weekend.
Afredo Vivas, alias Toto, and Eduardo Dumasing, alias Jim, reportedly drew their guns after sensing they were dealing with undercover agents in Barangays Bagong Kalsada and Prinza, respectively.
Vivas died while being rushed to the Jose P. Rizal District Hospital while Dumasing died at the scene.
Vivas was allegedly a member of the Barok Fajardo drug ring and was on the drug list of the provincial police, according to Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police chief.
Police said they seized from Vivas a plastic sachet containing shabu and a .38 caliber revolver.
Matta said Vivas’ death would reduce the supply of illegal drugs in the city. – Emmanuel Tupas, Non Alquitran
