Nueva Ecija trader arrested for arms cache
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Assorted guns and ammunition were seized when police searched the house of a businessman in Jaen, Nueva Ecija yesterday.
The raid on the house of Roderick Mauricio in Barangay Langla was based on a search warrant issued by Gapan Regional Trial Court Vice Executive Judge Celso Baguio.
Police said seven caliber .45 pistols, two 9mms; a caliber .22 rifle; a caliber .30, a 5.56 with scope and silencer,a caliber .25, a caliber .38 with scope, a caliber .38, a 357 revolver, four air guns and various types of ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
“We have been continuously beefing up our... drive to recover... loose firearms through continuous police operations and implementation of search warrants against illegal gun owners, especially now that we are covered by the election period,” Chief Superintendent Joel Napoleon Coronel, Central Luzon police director, said. – Raymund Catindig
