TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A 62-year-old state university professor died while two students were seriously injured following a smashup of the Toyota Corolla that he was driving, a motorcycle and a Manila-bound Victory Liner Bus along the national highway here on Saturday.

Tuguegarao City police chief Supt. George Cablarda said Roger Paredes of the Cagayan State University came from a drinking spree when he figured in a collision with the bus driven by Nelson Fajardo, 39, at 5:10 p.m.

The impact sent Paredes’ against the motorcycle carrying students Katrina Bago, 20, and Mica Shane Perez, 21, before it overturned.

The three were rushed to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center where Paredes was pronounced dead on arrival.

Fajardo, like Paredes, also tested positive for alcohol and was placed under arrest.
