4 suspects dead in shootouts in Bulacan, Negros Occidental

MANILA, Philippines — Four persons were killed in police operations in Bulacan and Negros Occidental in the past two days.

Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police director, said Anthony Eric Calonge fired at police officers manning a checkpoint in Barangay Kaypian in San Jose del Monte at 2:45 a.m. yesterday.

Alberto and Angelo, both surnamed De la Cruz, reportedly shot police officers serving a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms at their residence in Sitio Gulod, Barangay Maguinao, San Rafael.

In E.B. Magalona town, Noel Bolivar, alleged leader of the Divinagracia drug ring, reportedly engaged police officers in a shootout in a drug bust in Barangay 1 on Thursday.

Bolivar was declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital. – Gilbert Bayoran
