4 Cavite cops sacked for sleeping on duty
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Four police officers were relieved from their posts in Cavite yesterday for sleeping while on duty.
Police Officers 3 Joseph Sahurda and Jimmy Reyes and PO1 Aldazar Alawi were caught sleeping at their precincts in Bacoor while PO1 Ryan Garcia at a checkpoint in Imus during surprise inspections conducted by Senior Superintendent William Segun, Cavite police director, from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m.
One of the police officers was reportedly caught sleeping with a woman.
”They were shocked when they saw me,” Segun said.
He said he took a photo of Sahurda, who was snoring while sleeping.
The police officers were asked to submit a written explanation why they should not face administrative charges for neglect of duty.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde vowed to relieve police officials whose men are caught texting and sleeping on the job.
Albayalde had also conducted surprise inspections of police precincts and stations when he was Metro Manila police chief. – Emmanuel Tupas
