2 robbery suspects slain in shootout with cops

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged encounter with police in Kawit, Cavite before dawn yesterday.

The still unidentified suspects had just robbed a building in Barangay Batong Dalig, and engaged responding police officers in a gunfight, Senior Superintendent William Segun, Cavite police director, said.

Segun said the fatalities were members of a gang targeting buildings and subdivisions in Kawit and nearby areas.

Police said they recovered a motorcycle, a gun and a backpack containing stolen items from the fatalities. – Emmanuel Tupas
