Ex-cop slain by robbers

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A former police officer was allegedly killed by suspected robbers in Lipa, Batangas on Wednesday night.

Supremo Casabuena, 56, died while being treated at the N.L Villa Hospital.

Casabuena’s wife Edna, a rice dealer, was unhurt.

Initial investigation showed the couple had just arrived at their house in Barangay Sabang when three men appeared from behind and declared a holdup.

Casabuena pulled out his gun, but one of the robbers allegedly shot him and then took his bag containing P60,000 in cash, credit cards and a cell phone. The gunmen also allegedly took some other things from the house of the victims before they escaped.

One of the motorcycles used by the robbers  were recovered a few meters away from the scene.
