2 bolt Zamboanga City jail

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  – Two inmates arrested on charges of illegal drugs and possession of firearms escaped from their detention cell in this city at dawn yesterday.

Argie Gadjali and Luie Palas reportedly sawed the iron grills of their cell in Barangay Sangali at past 1 a.m., according to Senior Inspector Joel Tuttuh, chief of the city police Station 3.

Tuttuh said the guard on duty discovered the escape at around 3 a.m. 

The fugitives were arrested during a drug raid at a nearby fishport on July 7.

Tuttuh said he would order an investigation to determine how the detainees obtained the saw.
