3 drown in Ilocos beach

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Three persons, including two minors, drowned while spelunking on a beach in Barangay Alangan in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur last week.

Germinine Ascano, 24, who was the first to be recovered by rescuers, was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital, Senior Inspector Jaime Laguesma, Magsingal police chief, told The STAR.

The bodies of Maricar Tab, 9, and Bea Tamargo, 10, both residents of Barangay Namalpalan, were recovered the next day.

Investigation showed that the victims were swept away by big waves.
