9 trekkers trapped for 3 days in Mt. Tarak rescued

MANILA, Philippines - Nine mountaineers who were missing while on a trekking adventure in Bataan province last Saturday have been found by rescuers on Tuesday.

Bataan Governor Albert Garcia said in a radio report that the mountaineers, who came from Metro Manila, were found by the search group in Mt. Tarak in Barangay Alas-asin, Mariveles town at around 11:30 a.m.

Garcia said that according to the rescuers, the mountaineers were already very weak when found. The group started their trek last August 10.

He said several teams have been dispatched to Mt. Tarak to bring down the mountaineers.
