Bomb alert spares Agusan bet from harm

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines   â€“ Police cleared a road in Loreto, Agusan del Norte of landmines last Sunday even before a mayoral bet was set to pass through it for a campaign sortie.

Elements of the Loreto police, the 14th Special Action Company and the Army rushed to Barangay Sto. Tomas after getting a tip from civilians about the landmines. This spared mayoral bet Dario Otaza and his supporters from potential harm.
