Couple killed in Quezon ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A couple engaged in the fruit business was killed in an ambush in Barangay Isabang, Tayabas City, Quezon at dawn yesterday.

Police said Antonio Dayaman, 58, and his wife, Teresita, 50, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

Reports said the victims were in a jeepney on their way to the Lucena City public market to deliver fruits when waylaid by the gunman, who was on a motorcycle at 3:30 a.m.

Police identified the suspect as Arvin Armaniego, 27. He escaped and is being hunted by the police.

Bystanders told investigators that Armaniego made sure that the victims were dead before carting away an undetermined amount of cash, jewelry and cell phones. 

Police theorized that the suspect knew the couple.
