Carlos S. Bulosan Day in Binalonan

BINALONAN, Pangasinan — This town celebrates Carlos S. Bulosan Day today as it commemorates his 50th death anniversary.

The municipal council, in an ordinance passed last May 26, declared Sept. 11 every year Carlos S. Bulosan Day in recognition of the writer and poet known for his books such as the semi-autobiographical America is in the Heart and poetry volumes Letter from America and Voice of Bataan.

The celebration starts in the morning with a fun run and wreath-laying at the eight-foot marker in Barangay Sto. Niño where Bulosan was born. — Eva Visperas
