INC endorses Pasig congressional bet

MANILA, Philippines – The Iglesia ni Cristo has endorsed the candidacy of Mons Romulo, who is seeking to represent the lone district of Pasig City in the House of Representatives.

Romulo, STAR columnist and the older sister of Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo, who is running for senator, thanked INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo for the endorsement.

“I would like to assure them that the bills I will file in Congress will benefit most especially our less fortunate brothers and sisters. I will continue to fight corruption in government,” she said in a statement.

Romulo intends to file a Freedom of Information bill as well as measures to increase the social pension for indigent senior citizens, increase the Social Security System pension and establish a free lunch program in all public schools.

She also plans to amend the Electric Power Industry Reform Act to lower electricity rates and ensure sufficient funds for the full implementation of the free college education law, Republic Act 10687, whose main author is her brother.
