Pawnshop loses P3.2 M to robbers

MANILA, Philippines – A pawnshop in Barangay Socorro, Quezon City lost more than P3.2 million worth of jewelry and cash to robbers Thursday afternoon, an official said yesterday.

Pawnshop manager Delia Bonsucan, 57, said she closed the shop at around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2015, Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero said.

Caretaker Rammy Calanuga found a hole in the floor after he opened the shop at around 7:30 a.m. the next day.

They found that the safety vault had been destroyed and its contents – P3 million in jewelry and P.28 million in cash – were missing. Police officers recovered a hydraulic jack, a steel bar, a liquefied petroleum gas tank, an acetylene torch, a bag containing P8,000 in coins in the hole in the floor.
