- Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A jobless man committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of the Justice Hall building in Pasig City following a quarrel with his wife reportedly over money on Monday.

Efren Monterey, 48, of Kutching street, Barangay Buting, died on the spot.

Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza, Pasig City police chief, said that Monterey’s wife admitted that she and her husband had an argument over money at about 2 p.m.

But she had no inkling that their quarrel would drove her husband to end his life.

Noel Lamano, 54, clerk of court of the Justice Hall of Pasig City, saw the victim jumped to his death at 2:30 p.m.

Monterey landed at the parking lot of the building and sustained broken bones, causing his instantaneous death.

Police said it was the second suicide in the city after a 35-year-old man from Antipolo City jumped from the fifth floor of the Robinson’s Metro East mall last Oct. 3.
