Traffic rerouted for peace fest

-

The north and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from T.M. Kalaw to Katigbak Drive shall be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow from 12 noon to 9 p.m., the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit announced yesterday.

Superintendent Roberto dela Rosa said the closure was brought about by the Global Peace Festival 2008, which will be held at the Quirino Grandstand starting at 1 p.m.

Authorities advised the public yesterday to take alternate routes if they cannot avoid going through Roxas Boulevard. All vehicles coming from northern part of Manila and the pier zone shall turn left on P. Burgos street, right on Ma. Orosa street and continue to their destination. All vehicles from the southern part of Manila shall turn right on T.M. Kalaw, then left on Ma. Orosa.

The Philippines is expected to receive 300 international delegates from Japan, Korea, America, as well as from South and Southeast Asia, including thousands from local delegates.

Leaders from government and civil society will come together to discuss issues related to leadership and good governance. – Nestor Etolle
