Valenzuela gives out free vaccines, vitamins

-

The Valenzuela City Health Offfice (VCHO) is distributing free vaccines and vitamin supplements to all of the city’s newborn babies as part of its efforts to reduce infant deaths.

VCHO deputy director Dr. Edgardo Aruelo, said anti-tuberculosis, diphtheria, polio, and tetanus shots as well as vitamin A, ferrous sulfate and other micronutrients are readily available at the city’s 47 health centers, strategically located in Valenzuela’s 32 barangays.

The deputy director said they are going door-to-door to teach new mothers how to properly take care of themselves and their babies.

Aruelo said medical personnel assigned to barangay health centers have been instructed to weigh and monitor the condition of all the babies in their area of jurisdiction. – Jerry Botial
