Sick Central Bank employee kills self

An employee of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, reportedly stricken with brain cancer, decided to end his suffering by jumping to his death from the 12th floor of the BSP building along Harrison street in Malate, Manila yesterday morning.
Initial police investigation identified the suicide as Ruel Aruelo, 51, of 42 Rainbow st., SSS Village, Marikina City and assigned with the BSP’s Provident Fund Office. He was also the vice president of the BSP Employees Association.
According to reports, Aruelo climbed to the 12th floor of the building at about 7:30 a.m. and then suddenly jumped from the window of the stockroom.
Aruelo landed on the building’s second floor concrete canopy facing Roxas Boulevard, where he died upon impact, reports reaching the Western Police District’s Adriatico Station (Station 9) said.– Mike Frialde
