Phase 1 of Lapu market repair done

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Engineering Office announced yesterday that it has completed Phase 1 of the repair works on the city's public market.

Phase 1 included repair of the market’s structural defects.

Assistant City Engineer Alan Pedrigal said they are now implementing Phase 2 of the project, which includes construction of a drainage system and new stalls at the wet market.

With construction works still ongoing, vendors are not allowed to occupy the second floor of the building.

Lapu-Lapu Mayor Paz Radaza ordered the repair of the public market based on recommendation of the city engineering's office. The city government is also eyeing to build a new market. - Jose P. Sollano/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
