MANILA, Philippines — The United Kingdom will remove 47 countries including the Philippines from its travel red list due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting Oct. 11, travelers from the Philippines – including non-British nationals and those who do not have residency permits – will be allowed entry to the UK subject to some guidelines.

Those who have received a full course of an approved vaccine in the UK only need to take COVID-19 tests before and after their arrival, while those who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine at home or the place where they will stay for 10 days on top of the tests.

UK officials cited global vaccination efforts as reason for relaxing travel restrictions.

Only Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela will remain on the red list starting next week.

In addition, the UK also approved the proof of vaccination from travelers from 37 countries and territories, including the Philippines.

Eligible travelers vaccinated in these countries will be treated as fully vaccinated residents, provided that they show proof of vaccination of approved vaccines in the UK.

These are limited to COVID-19 vaccines developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen.

Those who received other vaccines must follow the protocols for non-fully vaccinated travelers.
