2021 gets cloudy, rainy welcome
MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and scattered rains will welcome the first day of 2021 due to two weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said the surge of the northeast monsoon or amihan and the tail-end of a cold front would affect most parts of Luzon today.
Isolated light rains are expected over Metro Manila with temperatures ranging from 24 degrees Celsius to 31 degrees Celsius.
Generally improved weather can be expected over the weekend.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over Bicol region, Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Quezon.
In Baguio City and Legazpi, rains and thunderstorms are expected until weekend.
There is no weather disturbance forecast in Mindanao, particularly in Metro Davao, but localized thunderstorms are expected to prevail.
Residents are warned of flash floods and landslides following moderate to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
