MANILA, Philippines — At least seven police officers are facing raps for indiscriminately firing their guns during New Year’s Eve celebration.

The seven cops were among the 23 individuals arrested on gun charges.

“As I have promised, there will be no mercy for errant personnel who will fire their guns to celebrate the holiday," Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde told reporters on Tuesday.

According to the PNP, aside from the police officers; 10 civilians, two security guards and a member of the military were also arrested for firing their guns.

Albayalde said administrative cases will be filed against the cops arrested.

"The full might of the law will be applied to these trigger-happy gun owners upon observance of all requirements of due process," he said.

Meanwhile, Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III earlier said that there were no reported injuries from stray bullets despite the arrests for indiscriminate firing.
