LIVE: Public interview for Supreme Court justice post

MANILA, Philippines — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) on Wednesday began the public interview of the candidates for the replacement of Supreme Court (SC) associate justice post.

The next high court justice will replace Associate Justice Jose Perez who will compulsorily retire on December 14.

For the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the JBC will interview the following candidates:

• Persida Rueda-Acosta
• Rita Linda Ventura-Jimeno
• Rowena Apao-Adlawan
• Japar Dimaampao

The following candidates, meanwhile, will be interviewed for the post in the afternoon session from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.:

• Samuel Martires
• Ricardo Paras III (also a candidate for the Sandiganbayan)
• Noel Tijam

The JBC will conduct the public panel interviews at the Division Hearing Room of the Supreme Court New Building as compliance to the Section 1, Rule 7 of the Rules of the JBC.

The council will also hold an interview on November 17 for the vacant post of Associate Justice Arturo Brion who will also retire on December 29.
