Trillanes hit over demolition job vs Duterte

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Ex-marine captain Nicanor Faeldon yesterday lashed out at his former Magdalo comrade and now Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for launching a demolition job against PDP-Laban standard-bearer Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Faeldon said Trillanes and President Aquino must be held accountable for not stopping the Chinese incursion in the contested West Philippine Sea territories.

Aquino had at one time appointed Trillanes as negotiator in back-channel talks with Chinese officials over the Spratlys dispute.

“I want the President to be accountable for what he has done to this country and he is in this with Senator Trillanes. They were the ones to stop me. They were the ones who prevented this activity in trying to preserve our sovereignty,” he said.

Faeldon, leader of the “Kalayaan Atin Ito” movement, was referring to a group of youths that stayed at the Philippine-held Pag-asa Island in the disputed Spratlys to assert sovereignty over the area.

Faeldon said he is fully supporting Duterte’s bid for the presidency because the mayor is capable of bringing the change the country needs. He added that Duterte did not seek his support.

“I saw in Duterte the change that all the voters saw. I’m one of them. I’m just one of them who believes in the change, and then you come up with some accusations to destroy him? They (voters) will not allow that,” Faeldon said.
