MANILA, Philippines – The same artist behind the "Yolanda" comics of Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas II has drawn a comic book for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

A snippet of the 10-page comics titled “Digong: Ang Kanlungan ng mga Inaapi at Inaabuso" was shared on Facebook yesterday by artist Karl Comendador. It was written by former Atlas Publishing Company editor KC Cordero and Atlas writer JM Estrabela.

The comics showed how Duterte fought a criminal gang that tried to get into Davao City as well as donating prosthetic legs to an amputated child.

Comendador earlier said that he is a supporter of Duterte after the 28-page comic book of Roxas titled “Sa Gitna ng Unos” (In the middle of a storm) drew flak. The comics, which he also illustrated, depicted the LP bet as a hero during the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda.

Comendador also clarified that he finished Duterte’s comic book last year, even before getting commissioned to create Roxas', ABS-CBN News reported. He added that the comics is already being distributed in Mindanao.

In 2010, Comendador also drew a comic book for the presidential campaign of Benigno Aquino III.

Late March, Roxas’s comic book earned criticisms from netizens saying he was “twisting facts” and rewriting history by making himself a hero during Typhoon Yolanda.
