Miss World Philippines 2022 candidates meet the press; Ashley Montenegro wins physique award

MANILA, Philippines — The Miss World-Philippines (MWP) organization formally presented their official lineup of candidates at the poolside of The Cove in Okada Manila.

The 36 aspirants wore identical cream-colored monokinis from designer Jhong Sudlon.

"It's good to be back here in Cove Manila. Last year, we also had our press presentation here. We've been forging a special partnership with Okada Manila in preparation for the pre-pageant challenges, leading to the coronation night. Our candidates will be using their beauties, talents, and advocacies in the the coming challenges. We also expect the presence of Ms. Julia Morley (World), Gerhard Parzuthka von Lipinsky (Supranational) and Dr. Amal Rezk (Eco International) during the final show," revealed National Director Arnold Vegafria.

This time around, the 36 official candidates were presented in chronological order and the city or province they were representing. And they are:

At the close of the mid-afternoon event, Makati City representative Ashley Subijano Montenegro was awarded Le Meur Aesthetics Body Award (equivalent to a preliminary Swimsuit award).

The challenges - Beach Body, Top Model, Beauty with a Purpose, Multimedia, Sports, Talent, National Costume, and Head to Head - will be rolled out in the next two weeks. Winners of the several challenges automatically advance to the semifinal round.
