MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo admitted that she is still grieving ABS-CBN's failure to get a 25-year franchise renewal when the network's fate was decided in Congress last July 10.

In an exclusive e-mail interview with Philstar.com, Bea said she believes everything happened for a reason.

"We’re still grieving. But I believe that everything happens for a reason. This experience is teaching us something. Now is the best time to reflect and take care of one another," Bea said.

Bea has been busy helping Filipinos that are greatly affected by the pandemic due to the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Her advocacy and outreach initiatives with Angel Locsin's Shop n' Share, which sold celebrities' second-hand branded staff for mass testing, has been a success.

"Shop n’ Share was successful. But I won’t take credit for that. I just helped. Angel and Anne were the ones who really worked hard for that drive," she said.

Bea also has her own organization called I AM HOPE.

"I am very focused on my organization called I AM HOPE. At first, our goal was just to help the frontliners during ECQ, but now we have transitioned into helping the underprivileged through livelihood programs and we aim to help the children with their education. We are in this for the long haul," she assured everyone.

Bea has also been recently named as new Avon Philippines brand ambassador. She said she agreed to become the company’s brand ambassador because they both believe in women helping women and they share the same advocacies they can collaborate in.

“She’s an embodiment of the power of dreams, and the Floral Wonderland lipstick collection (which Bea endorses) is for those who want to pursue their dreams,” added Anna Garces, Avon Philippines' Director for Marketing.

Last month, Bea, together with her I AM HOPE foundation, met with Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto to donate relief goods and disinfectants for the city. — Reports from Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo
