MANILA, Philippines — Part-Filipino R&B artist, H.E.R., bagged two Grammy awards on Monday (Manila time).

Filipino-American H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella "Gabi" Wilson, won Grammys for Best R&B album for the self-titled compilation of her first two EPs. She also won Best R&B Performance for her duet with Daniel Caesar on “Best Part.”

“So first thing I wanna say is this is unbelievable and second it's not even an album, it's an EP," Wilson said after accepting her golden gramophone.

"I'm speechless right now, I'm holding back tears," she added.

During the Grammy Award ceremony, Korean boy group BTS presented her award.

The 21-year-old artist was nominated for five Grammys which include Album of the Year.

Wilson released her two EPs “I used to know her: The Prelude” and “I used to know her: Part 2” in 2018. Her first EP ranked first at the Billboard US R&B chart and also reached the 20th spot at the Billboard US 200 chart.

In January this year, the R&B star confirmed she found her music interest in her Filipino roots.

She shared that she has Filipino blood on "The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

"I'm half Filipino and Filipinos love karaoke. So yeah, I love to sing, I've always been around music my entire life and I just gravitated towards instruments," Wilson said.

"They were at my house and my dad would rehearse with his band. So yeah, they were just available to me," she added. — Rosette Adel
