First Filipina Victoria's Secret Angel Kelsey Merritt planning to attend Ateneo bonfire

MANILA, Philippines — Kelsey Merritt, the first Filipina model to walk at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last November, may be coming home to celebrate Ateneo de Manila University’s men's basketball championship win at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81.

The account of Team AMDG tweeted Merritt on December 5 about the bonfire on December 14. She then replied: “OMG. I’ll be back in the Philippines by then.”

Team AMDG said this year’s bonfire will coincide with the University of the Philippines’ annual lantern parade.

“Team Ateneo Bonfire and UP Lantern Parade on December 14. Prepare for One Big Night in Katipunan,” the page tweeted.

The traditional bonfire celebration is done yearly to commemorate Ateneo’s champion student athletes.

Last year, the Ateneo community also celebrated the Blue Eagles’ first men’s basketball championship title after five years.

Originally from Pampanga, Kelsey graduated with a degree in Communication from Ateneo de Manila University.
