Stars grace Belenismo sa Tarlac 2017 Awards Night

MANILA, Philippines — Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Jona, Julie Anne San Jose, Aaron Villaflor, Mikee Quintos, Migo Adecer, Luane Dy and One Up graced the awarding ceremony of the Belenismo sa Tarlac 2017 held last Dec. 8 at the College of the Holy Spirit Gym in Tarlac City.

The annual province-wide competition showcased the creativity of the Tarlaquenos in crafting their very own belen designs made of recyclable and indigenous materials.

Special guest during the event was former AFP chief of staff and now DILG Usec. Eduardo Año. In his message, he lauded the Tarlac Heritage Foundation led by Dona Isabel Cojuangco-Suntay and Dr. Isa Cojuangco Suntay for sustaining the project that showcased the spirit of bayanihan by various sectors that made the festivity successful.

The Municipality of Capas was adjudged winner in the Grand Category. Bagging the second place were Municipality of Moncada and Municipality of Concepcion while the Municipalities of San Manuel and San Clemente placed third.

The grand winners in Grand Non Municipal Category were St. Francis of Assisi Parish and SM Primeholdings, Inc. while McDonald’s Capas placed second.

McDonald’s Motorway bagged the grand prize for Monumental Category while Tarlac Agricultural University, Azaya Garden Resort and CityMall won second, third and fourth place, respectively.

In the Church Category, the first place went to St. Joseph Parish. The second and third placers were Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

The Sto. Cristo Parish and Barangay Health Worker-Tariji won the grand prize in the Community Category. Other winners were Brgy. Balingcanaway Community and Taguiporo Giants Asscociation-Sta. Ignacia (second placers), Samahan sa Pura Community and BHF Ligtasan (third placers) and Gr8 Multipurpose (fourth).

Belenismo sa Tarlac 2017 had also given Hall of Fame award to the Philippine Army and PNP PR03 Belen titled Marawi sa Panahon ng Kapayapaan. The belen is a tribute to the policemen and soldiers of Marawi who served selflessly in the efforts to liberate Marawi.
