Carla welcomes heavy workload

MANILA, Philippines – If Carla Abellana would have it any other way, she still would not change anything in her life. She would still finish her studies before embarking into a showbiz career. And that was said without any regret about what could have been.

Carla, who completed her Psychology degree at the De La Salle University (cum laude), was not initially inclined towards show business. Even if she has a strong showbiz lineage, being a star was not her dream. She opted to work in the outside world after finishing her studies.

However, that was not God’s plan with somebody whom He has blessed with tremendous acting talent. Over the years as an actress, Carla has undoubtedly built a stellar reputation of her own, away from her showbiz relatives — dad Rey “PJ” Abellana and even maternal grandmother, Delia Razon. Apparently, there was no stopping Carla from making a name for herself.

“It was my mom (Rea Reyes) who convinced me to try it out in the business,” Carla said. “I gave it a ‘go’ and after that, offers came one after another. I guess I didn’t look back. Tuloy-tuloy na.”

At present, Carla juggles her time between four regular shows in her home network. She is seen nightly in the GMA 7 soap series, Because of You, with Gabby Concepcion and Rafael Rosell. She also appears in the weekly sitcom, Ismol Family, opposite Ryan Agoncillo. She hosts the weekly true-to-life drama, Karelasyon and is seen daily in the cooking segment, Del Monte Kitchenomics.

“Time management” is how Carla describes her busy workload. Within the week, she allots time for taping, TV guestings, personal appearances and even shooting. She recently wrapped up the Regal Films romantic-comedy, No Boyfriend Since Birth, with rumored boyfriend Tom Rodriguez.
