CBCP exec to AlDub fans: Consider message, not just 'kilig' factor
MANILA, Philippines - An official of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Tuesday reminded the droves of supporters of the 'kalyeserye' AlDub to be cautious in watching such TV programs.
Father Kunegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth, said the followers of Aldub love team should not only consider the 'kilig factor' but also the message of the program.
He said the audience should learn to balance and separate reality from the virtual world.
The prelate said he hopes the viewers of the program to imbibe the culture and norms of Filipinos such as the learning to respect the elders when the on-screen love team did not end up having a real relationship together.
"Kung tinitingnan lang ang programa bilang isang palabas posibleng magtatapos lang sa kilig factor at nalimutan na ang aral na mapupulot sa programa kung hindi magkatototo sa tunay na buhay ang pagkakagustuhan ng dalawang gumaganap, hindi pinulot ang magandang aral na ibinigay ng programa.
"'Yung mga aktor at aktres ay nagbibigay sila sa atin ng mga kalagayan ng mga pangyayari sa buhay natin sa araw araw pero hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon ay hindi 'yun ang talagang kanilang buhay pero yung inihaharap nila sa atin na positibo at mga bagay na nasa katotohanan dapat yun ang ating hinahawakang mabuti," he said.
Garganta also said that the viewers should be conscious in discerning the characters in the TV program, warning not to be influenced by all what they see on TV.
“Kaya siguro kailangan din ng maingat na pagsusuri at maingat sa panunuod sa ganitong klase ng program... hindi tayo tinatawag lang para maaliw ang damdamin pero maging responsable tayo kung tayo ay naghahanap ng mga bagay na nagdadala sa atin ng katuwaan at kasiyahan. So kinakailangan pa rin tayong maging responsible," he said.
