Richard & Lucy wake up on right side of the bed

MANILA, Philippines - There must be a deep secret to becoming and staying a sought-after power couple. Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres (photo), who have been married for 15 years, are not only the gorgeous pair to die for. They are leaders, advocates, respected television personalities and last but not the least, parents.

People would think that there’s a complex formula for the perfection that these two embody — the great looks, the great disposition, the great opportunities and the great everything else. But to them, the answer is simple — balance.

“Even if we are passionate about what we do, we also value very much the time we spend off our very hectic schedules. It is very important to relax and recharge so that we will always have much of ourselves to give,” says Lucy.

Taking a good rest is a practice she has carried over from her childhood, one that has done her wonders. She remembers her younger years, spent in the province, when she and her siblings couldn’t go out and play in the afternoon until they’ve had their requisite siesta. Similarly, Richard, had to sleep after lunch before he could spend the entire afternoon playing.

The couple believes in the healing power of sleep and how it basically is an everyday retreat.  “It is our bed and pillow that receive us at the end of every day, whether we’ve had it good or bad, whether events were happy or sad. It is our refuge, it has to be our happy place, something we look forward to,” Lucy says.

She admits, however, that there was a time when she experienced discomfort during sleep as her neck would hurt and her shoulders would stiffen. Since she gives importance to what she considers an end-of-the-day refuge, she addressed the concern through Tempur,
