‘Home sweet home’ for Dancesport-TCC

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- The members of Dancesport-Team Cebu City were not only gracious hosts but were also splendid performers on the dance floor as they swayed and grooved their way to 21 golds, 15 silvers and 17 bronzes to rule the 15-hour Cebu Open Dancesport Championship 2014 and 7th Dancesport Sa Sugbu late Saturday night at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Brgy. Lahug, Cebu City.

The Cebuanos though missed the premiere amateur open titles, with Manila’s Sean Mischa Aranar and Ana Leonila Nualla reigning supreme in the modern standard category. The Villarta siblings Zijane Troy and Zijana Trace, Cebu's top bets, settled for the silver medal.

Likewise, Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Caneda could only come up with a silver finish in the Latin American discipline dominated by Gerald Jamili and Cherry Clarice Parcon, the reigning national champions from Bacolod.

Inspite of that, Cebu still clinched the overall championship with a huge margin of Team Manila, which wound up second with 14 golds, 13 silvers and 13 bronzes.

The Villarta siblings still has some something to be proud of as they bagged two golds for DTCC through the amateur closed-Visayas and the youth 5 dance.

After his US stint, Anselmo Estillore is back in Cebu and readily made his presence felt with a golden double in the latin adult 4-dance and closed Visayas battle with new partner Mary Desiree Seraga.

The indefatigable Charlie Camacho and Marisse Reyes also grabbed a pair of gilts in the senior 1-3 dance and senior-2 dance as well as Andrew Ysla and Noelyn Mie Pedrano through the junior 3-dance and junior 5-dance battle.

The other golden winners for Cebu in the latin discipline were Jojit Cabunas and Ava Sheldin Tagunayon in the teacher-student 1-3 dance and Bert Kevin Deluvio and Jam Flores in the adult 3-dance. IPI had a 1-3 finish in the corporate event through the efforts of John Paul Anore, Crystal Panilag, Winston Lapingcao and Mhyville Miami Villarias.

Ysla and Pedrano also got two golds in the modern standard through the junior 3-dance and 5-dance.

The rest of the DTCC gold medallists in the modern standard were Hezekiah Sobrevega and Rydel Rowella Pat in the juvenile 3-dance and 5-dance, Mark Rhony Flores and Hidemi Inanaga in the teacher-student 1-3 dance, Davin Unabia and Kinue Sakurai in the teacher-student 2-dance, 3-dance action and senior 2-2 dance , Jam Flores and Bjorn Torreon in the adult 3-dance, and Ninolito Otero and Melody Sam in the teacher-student 5-dance.
