ST. IGNATIUS RUN: Tabal, Bernido Dominate

CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal collected another crown after topping the women's 10K class of the St. Ignatius Run 2011 yesterday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City.

Tabal completed the race in 39 minutes and 20.53 seconds, while Kawasan Marathon winner Christy Sevilleno-Tutor finished second with a 40:27.87 clocking. Madelyn Carter wound up third in 40:27.87.

Ian Bernido came out the fastest in the men’s division with the time of 34:447.45 followed by Adonis Singson in 34:47.95 and Elmer Bartolo in 34:49.01.

In the men's 5K, Philip Duenas retained his title with the time of 16:01.53. Joel Delposo placed second in 16:04.57 followed by Miljun Luterte in 16:56.70.

In the distaff side, Jhean Andrin took home the crown with the time of 19:26.92, while her sister Lovely Fe landed at second in 19:27.57. Joeyry Lee claimed the third spot in 20:12.34.

Jorry Ycong lorded it over in the boys 3K in 10:19.82, while Cherry Andrin topped the girls category in 13:18.93.

Students of SHS-Ateneo de Cebu also showcased their wares in the event held in honor of St. Ignatius.

The top three among the male students in 5K were Wilmer Lopez, Joseph Costelo and Marc Joshua Villordon, while the girls class had Veia Nery, Laydee Remedio and Erika Callelero.

In the 3K, the top three positions in the boys division were occupied by Axel Tan, Adrian Uy and Jaewan Jeon, while the girls had Celina Mae Revalde, Kate Rina Barcenas and Kierra Serano.

Robert Mayang and Nina Lumbay, on the other hand, ruled the 7-under 400m run, while Liza Kim Zin Jung was the fastest among the 8-above entries in the 400m dash. - (THE FREEMAN)
