2nd leg of Eagle Run, Trilogy a 'night race'

CEBU, Philippines - The second leg of the 2010 Eagle Run Trilogy will take place at 6 pm on October 16 at the Cebu Doctors’ University in north reclamation area, Mandaue City.

The first Eagle Run took place last summer with over 1, 500 runners joining in.

After holding a regular morning event, the organizing Sacred Heart School for Boys (SHS-B) Batch ‘85 decided to stage a night race not only for a change but also as an added challenge for the runners and the organizers as well.

To ensure the safety of the participants, more marshals will be spread in the entire route. More to it, Dakay Construction and Development Corporation agreed to provide sufficient halogen lights for the race.

Runners will be given a “glow-in-the-dark” bracelet with colors corresponding to their respective classes for proper identification.

The race lenghts to be featured are the 10K, 5K and 3K for both men’s and women’s division.

This is the earliest night race, so far, in Cebu as the organizers want the runners to have fun after the race with a tribal band to spice up the event.

Ice-cold water, Gatorade, snacks and juices will be served during and after the race as promised by assistant race director Arnold Chuachoy.

Lots of items will be raffled off during awarding ceremony that include another limited edition of Kenneth Cobonpue creation named the ‘Leaf Side’ chair, which amounts to around $800.

Registration fee is pegged at P300. Entry forms are available at the Nike Athletic Club in Banilad Town Centre, Dessert Factory at the Ayala Terraces and Center for Sight at Cebu Doctors’ Hospital.

The organizers advised those who are intested to join the action to register early as they are limiting the number of participants to only 2,000. For more details, one may call 256-2020. (FREEMAN)
