Cebu City athletes leave for POF

CEBU - Athletes forming part of Team Cebu City sails to Cagayan de Oro City today for the 3rd Philippine Olympic Festival National Championships set from December 11 to 16. TCC is composed of 66 athletes plus 15 officials and coaches with councilor Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem acting as the head of delegation.

TCC will be fielding in entries in five sports:football, swimming, taekwondo, judo and karate-do.

TCC’s swimming squad is composed mostly of Cebu Blue Marlins members. They are Trina and Noel Cañeda and Paula Abigail Vega of the University of Cebu, Cebu Eastern College’s Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann Navarro, Michael Ichiro Kong of FBC Christian School, USPF’s Danielle Mae Ballesteros, SES’ Beth May Arellano, Robin Jakobsen of Don Bosco, Danielle Angela and Serge Biscocho of Maria Montessori International School, Kaitlin Danielle Capacio of St. Theresa’s College, and Pierre Niño Baguio of St. Francis of Assisi School.

In judo, the city’s representatives are Joaquin Fernandez, Allan Antigua and Alford Marimon, while TCC is set to defend its 14-under title in football.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol  (THE FREEMAN)
